Typically, for Decano 10-12 meter poles, the standard spacing ranges from 30 to 50 meters. However, with Decano's high-performance 200W-400W LED systems and specialized asymmetric optics, we can often extend this distance. The goal is to maintain a "spacing-to-height ratio" of approximately 3:1 or 4:1, ensuring that the light pools from adjacent poles overlap perfectly to create a continuous ribbon of visibility without dark gaps.

 

2. Factors Influencing Grid Intervals

The precise interval for Decano installations is dictated by the Road Class and Safety Speed. On high-speed expressways (100km/h+), spacing is often tighter (around 30-35 meters) to ensure maximum "Uniformity of Illuminance"-preventing the "zebra effect" (alternating bright and dark spots) that can cause eye fatigue for drivers. For secondary highways or straighter rural sections, Decano's precision-engineered Type II and Type III lenses allow for wider spacing up to 50 meters, reducing the total number of poles required and significantly lowering the overall infrastructure investment for the contractor.

 

3. Optimized Layouts for Critical Zones

While straight sections follow a rhythmic grid, Decano's application logic changes for critical highway zones. In interchanges, curves, and merging ramps, the spacing is typically reduced to 20-25 meters to provide higher light density where driver decision-making is most intense. By utilizing Decano's DIALux lighting simulations before installation, engineers can calculate the exact "Sweet Spot" for spacing-minimizing the number of fixtures to save energy while strictly adhering to international road safety standards like EN13201 or IESNA RP-8.
